December 12, 14, 15, 18 Intro to Weaving - Dressing a Loom

This class will focus on the details of dressing a loom. Using a 15” table loom, students will complete all steps necessary to weave using a multi-harness/shaft loom. This includes; winding a warp, dressing the loom using a front to back method, sleying the reed, threading heddles, securing the warp to the loom, winding on the warp, and weaving.
PROJECT: While weaving a 15 x 30” piece of cotton fabric, students will learn how to:
wind the warp using 4/8 cotton in neutrals either a warping board or warping mill
dress the loom using a front to back method
wind on the warp, how to get consistent tension and why that is one of the most important aspects of weaving
warp will be threaded in a straight draw pattern, giving students the option to weave both plain weave and various twill patterns
weaving techniques for consistency
on hand will be a vairety of weft fibres to customize your cloth
PREREQUISITE: None! This is an intro class, no experience necessary.
NOTE: The set up of a loom requires many hours. Students in this class will not being weaving until the Sunday afternoon. All materials provided.

Any classes cancelled by us due to low registration or health mandates will have the option for a refund or transfer to future date.
