November 2 - PRIVATE Punch Needle Workshop
INSTRUCTOR : Fern (she/her), $120 each, plus tax
November 2 10:30 - 5:30pm
PROJECT: Over the day, students will punch needle a 10 x 10” piece on a 12 x 12” frame with stretched backing fabric. Patterns will be provided or you can bring your own, just make sure it fits the working area of 10x10”. All materials provided for the duration of the class, and you get to take home your punched piece. Your work can be used as a large decorative patch, a small cushion, wall art, and more! Supplies to take home can be purchased after class if wanted, punch needles ($48) and backing ($40/m), wool ($9ea).
DISCUSSION: How to thread the Oxford Punch Needle, punching techniques and tips, transferring patterns onto backing and finishing techniques.
PREREQUISITE: None! Rug hooking is super easy, fast and no experience is necessary.
NOTE: Minimum 8 people, Maximum 16

Fern’s BIO: Jessica Fern Facette is an Edmonton, Alberta, Canada based fibre artist, who has been weaving for nearly two decades. Her textile work is a modern spin on traditional techniques and patterns. Fern's weaving can also be found for sale once a year at Edmonton's Royal Bison Art & Craft Fair. She has initiated growth in the textile community by founding Fern’s School of Craft, a space where fibre artists from across Canada meet to carry on the long tradition of sharing skills and knowledge.
