NOTE: If you are coming from out of town, you could skip the last Thursday session. You will have to either braid your fringes or purchase a fringe twister to finish your rug at home.

Weaving with wool on a linen warp and using a weft-faced woven structure, students can achieve many patterns. 100% Canadian wool will be available in an abundance of colours, or reach out prior to class to discuss colours. The rug will be approximately 25 x 40”.
(The loom be dressed and ready for weaving. This class does not cover winding the warp or dressing the loom. )
PROJECT: Woven Weft Faced Wool Rug.
DISCUSSION: Students will be given an introduction to the loom, the fundamentals of loom function, best weaving practices, weft faced weaving, how to weave with two shuttles while keeping selvedges tidy, how to achieve different patterns in the weft faced structure.
-discuss theory of sett, the weft faced structure
-discuss best materials for rug making
-project plan a rug, including all calculations on warp and weft
-design and weave the rug
-finish the rug by securing the fringe
PREREQUISITE: None! This is a beginner friendly workshop. (For Krokbragd option students should have some weaving experience.)
NOTE: Materials included in price. Some homework may be required.

Any classes cancelled by us due to low registration or health mandates will have the option for a refund or transfer to future date.
