This pattern will guide you through weaving a double width blanket in a classic diagonal twill design. Using wool from Briggs and Little, Canada’s oldest woollen mill, the blanket is woven with 100% wool. Incorporate an optional strand of mohair in the weft for additional cozyness.

Double width utilizes double weave to create two layers of cloth simultaneously. The layers are joined on one side so when taken off the loom, the weaving is twice wide as it was in the reed. It’s a fascinating technique to create large projects on a medium sized floor loom. For twill double weave you need eight shafts.

The end result is a colourful blanket that will add brightness to any snuggle zone.

There is a handy reference chart for weaving in tail ends, tips and tricks for success with double weave and mohair, as well as detailed instructions for wet finishing with a top loading washing machine. While there is a complete draft with warp design information, the booklet does not cover how to wind a warp or how to dress a loom.
